Go on a monster-filled journey

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is an adventure game from Game Freak that belongs to the ninth generation of the Pokémon series. Set in Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment project is ongoing, the RPG brings back the Mega Evolution mechanic and offers trainers the chance to prove their battle skills.

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, players are back in Kalos Region, the setting of Pokémon X and Y. This time, the adventure unfolds right at the heart of the region—Lumiose City. With a redevelopment plan underway, the city presents challenges unique to a futuristic urban landscape that aspiring trainers must overcome.

Return to Lumiose City

Pokémon Legends: Z-A transports players to a reimagined Lumiose City in the Kalos region, set years after the events of Pokémon X and Y. The city is undergoing a significant redevelopment, aiming to harmonize the coexistence of people and Pokémon. Amidst this transformation, a mysterious phenomenon causes certain Pokémon to undergo Rogue Mega Evolution, leading to unpredictable and powerful transformations. Players assume the role of a young Trainer who gets tangled in the events that unfold.

Departing from the traditional turn-based system, Z-A introduces a dynamic real-time combat system. Trainers and their Pokémon move freely in a 3D space, with Pokémon executing moves at the Trainer's command, incorporating cooldown mechanics and face-button controls. This system offers a more immersive and responsive battle experience, reminiscent of Pokémon UNITE. Additionally, the game features the Z-A Royale, a citywide ranking battle system that replaces traditional gym challenges, offering diverse team compositions and strategic depth

The evolution of the Pokémon franchise

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A players encounter a diverse cast of characters, including fellow Trainers, researchers, and city officials, each contributing to the unfolding narrative. The game introduces several new Pokémon species and regional forms, expanding the Pokédex and offering fresh strategies for team building. Notably, the return of Mega Evolution allows for enhanced forms of classic Pokémon, such as Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja, adding depth and excitement to battles.

The game's visuals showcase a vibrant and detailed Lumiose City, with bustling streets, illuminated landmarks, and dynamic weather systems that enhance the immersive experience. The city serves as a central hub, with various districts offering unique environments and challenges. The seamless open-world design allows players to explore freely, interact with NPCs, and engage in side activities, contributing to a rich and engaging world-building experience. Although it requires the Nintendo Switch 2 for optimal performance.

A mega step in Pokémon adventures

Pokémon Legends: Z-A reinvigorates the franchise with its dynamic real-time combat, immersive Lumiose City setting, and the return of Mega Evolution. The game successfully blends exploration, strategic battles, and an engaging narrative, offering both longtime fans and new players a fresh experience. While the vibrant visuals and citywide Z-A Royale enhance gameplay, the requirement of the Nintendo Switch 2 may limit accessibility for some players.
